3 Effective Link Building Techniques

August 29th, 2011

A large part of search engine optimization relies in white hat link building techniques. The reason I am saying white hat is because there are far too many firms and individuals building links in the wrong way. Taking the shortcut to link building will hurt the websites ranking structure and it will only give you short term benefits. The concept of link building is simply to get websites to link to your website. However, there is a certain strategy and requirement you have to follow in order to make it beneficial. Not all link building techniques bring in great value, as some could sabotage your websites reputation.

  1. Non-reciprocal Links:
This is where a website would link to you, but you wouldn’t link back. This type of link building is the most powerful, and it is known as one way link building. Now, you can’t just get any website to link to you. When optimizing websites for search engines, we usually just keep Google in mind, as it is the one that is used most often. In terms of Google, it is important to have all your back links related to your niche. If your website is about beauty products; then your back links should be beauty product related websites. Having links from bad neighbourhood sites like adult sites is bad idea, as it could hurt your rankings.

Google has its own reputation scale known as PR (Page Rank). The PR scale ranges from 0 to 10, and is given based on a number of factors. The largest criterion that is taken into account is the strength of your back links. The stronger your back links, the better chance of achieving a higher PR.

  2. Article Marketing:
This is a very good strategy to use if you want to build links from pages with content that is related to your webpage. Article marketing can be a cost-efficient way to build links on hundreds of websites. The idea behind it is very simple, as you will just need quality content and some well-known article directories. There are several high quality article directories which have their pages indexed within minutes of being published. If you can manage to publish your article to the top article directories, you could get some quality in-content back links. If you don’t have the time to do it on your own, you can hire SEO firms to do it for you.
  3. Forum Posting:
As the intro says, this is simply posting on forums. The only thing you have to remember is that you have to place your links in your signature. Some forums require you to be a member for a certain number of days before you can add links. When choosing forums to sign up on, make sure to search for forums that are in your niche. Relevant back links are the strongest you can find without having to pay. When posting, make sure you are helping the community out, so that they will be willing to check out your links as well.

Good luck!

Google and other search engines will not count the number of pages you link too, nor will they notice the quality of those pages. In short, there is little or no [...]...
