Some Backlinking Techniques

February 21st, 2011

It can be tough to find backlinking techniques that actually work.  We all know that getting backlinks is what SEO is all about.  If we have hopes of getting to the top of Google for certain keywords then we need links.

The issue being, of course that finding places that you can put an actual link back to your site is tough enough – never mind when you mix in the issue of ‘nofollow’ links, links that don’t really count as a backlink.

4 Different Backlinking Techniques That Work

  • Article Marketing – simple one this one.  You create an article and get it put on various article marketing sites such as Ezine Articles, Hubpages or Squidoo.  In return you get a contextual backlink(s) with the anchor text of your choice. It can be hard work but it can also be very rewarding, with powerful backlinks and anchor text of your choice.  It can also be used in guest blogging, for other peoples sites and blogs – where you can get even better backlinks and traffic.
  • Profile Creation.  This uses the power of various web 2.0 sites and software, such as various forums, to enable you to create new inner pages on profiles.  You are often able to include some personal info such as links etc. This can be spammy (be careful what you are doing) and can need a huge amount to get some real juice going… but it can work, and does work very effectively in a lot of cases.
  • Buying Backlinks.  Controversial one this one.  Google frowns on it, but then it frowns on a lot of things.  Paying someone to get a dofollow link on their site, especially it is is site wide, can get you links that you would never be otherwise able to get.

  • Social Bookmarking.  A popular one this one.  It can get massive numbers of links, especially with automatic software to do it for you.  It can also generate great traffic.  Whilst a lot of social bookmarking links are nofollow many others are do follow.

Good luck!

  1. I’ve been looking around trying to figure out about backlinking methods and since I keep finding article submission at the top of everyone’s list I thinking it’s time to go write some articles – Pam

Would you say buying backlinks is frowned upon simply because money is leaving Google’s hand when it comes to databasing websites? Though it’s controversial, I would say buying backlinks is in some ways a lot like buying an advertisement. There’s never really a “guarantee” that traffic will be driven towards your website, but they can potentially be very beneficial. It seems that there is a mini-business market to be found in simply selling backlinks.

Backlink supply is definitely an established business!

    G. don’t like it because they regard it as artificially altering organic search results – but the reality is businesses with websites will do what they can to get on the first page of the search results!
